Poached Allspice Pears

May  be  served hot  or  cold  the  pears  are  moist  after  poaching in sugar  and  allspice powder.


Pears (ripe, large) 4 numbers
Orange juice 300 ml
All spice powder 2 tsp
Raisins 50 gms
Light brown sugar  2 tbsp


  1. Peel, core and cut the pears into halves.
  2. In a sauce pan, place the pears along with orange, all spice, raisins and sugar.
  3. Dissolve the sugar and boil it for 1 mins.
  4. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 mins until the pears are cook but still firm.
  5. Serve with hot syrup or chill and serve with ice cream.
