November Bonfire Night |
||
Bonfire Night Quotation There are a lot of things I can take, and a few that I can't. What I can't take is when my older brother, who's everything that I want to be, starts losing faith in things. I saw that look in your eyes last night. I don't ever want to see that look in your eyes again. Again and again, I struggled though the storm. Once I fainted--and it wasn't in the script. I was hauled to the studio on a sled, thawed out with hot tea, and then brought back to the blizzard, where the others were waiting. We filmed all day and all night, stopping only to eat standing near a bonfire. We never went inside.... The blizzard never slackened.
This is the Night Mail crossing the Border,
It was a chilly winter's night;
Every morn and every night
Nature in darkness groans
The night has a thousand eyes,
The night is darkening round me, The North will at least preserve your flesh for you; Northerners are pale for good and all. There's very little difference between a dead Swede and a young man who's had a bad night. But the Colonial is full of maggots the day after he gets off the boat.
Night comes to the room of the world Remember, remember the fifth of November, the gunpowder, treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Before the first before and after the last after, there is night waiting. Day does not forestall nightmares - Night is not needed for dreams - There is no better time than here - No better place than now Do not go gentle into that good night. Do not pursue what is illusory - property and position all that is gained at the expense of your nerves decade after decade and can be confiscated in one fell night. Live with a steady superiority over life - don't be afraid of misfortune, and do not yearn after happiness it is after all, all the same the bitter doesn't last forever, and the sweet never fills the cup to overflowing.
Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that's been our unifying cry, More light. Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlight. Neon, incandescent lights that banish the darkness from our caves to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier's field. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we're supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. Light is knowledge, light is life, light is light.
Fear can keep us up all night long, but faith makes one fine pillow. Green tea by day, Red wine by night. -Johnny The Walker History is made at night. Character is what you are in the dark. If luck was a chick, seducing it towards me would have been a piece of cake! Yet who knows… it would have just been a one night stand and that would have just been it!!! Isn't it funny how we'll look out the window at the moon, and then we notice it's not the moon but a streetlight Also what's funny is how we do this every night.
It citizenship would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognized as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to enter every other state whenever they pleased, singly or in companies, without pass or passport, andwithout obstruction, to sojourn there as long as they pleased, to go where they pleased at every hour of the day or night without molestation, unless they committed some violation of the law for which a white man would be punished it citizenship would give them the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went. And all this would be done in the face of the subject race of the same color, both free and slaves, inevitably producing discontent and insubordination among them, and endangering the peace and safety of the State.
It feels good and rewarding to study a career that helps people. The problem will be visible years later when you are at home at the end of the night, staring at your paycheck.
John Johnson Now this is something the other tour guides won't tell you. In this particular cell-block, Machine Gun Kelly had what we call in the prison system, a bitch. And one night in a jealous rage Kelly took a make-shift knife or shiv, and cut out the bitch's eyes. And as if this wasn't enough retribution for Kelly, the next day he and four other inmates took turns pissing into the bitch's ocular cavities. (short pause) This way to the cafeteria
Last night I dreamed I ate a ten-pound marshmallow, and when I woke up the pillow was gone. Life is like a blanket too short. You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night. Most of today's books have an air of having been written in one day from books read the night before.
Most of you have been where I am tonight. The crash site of unrequited love. You ask yourself, How did I get here What was it about Was it her smile Was it the way she crossed her legs, the turn of her ankle, the poignant vulnerability of her slender wrists What are these elusive and ephemeral things that ignite passion in the human heart That's an age-old question. It's perfect food for thought on a bright midsummer's night.
Now cracks a noble heart. Good night sweet prince And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest Oh you who are born of the blood of the gods, Trojan son of Anchises, easy is the descent to Hell the door of dark Dis stands open day and night. But to retrace your steps and come out to the air above, that is work, that is labor
Oh, treacherous night thou lendest thy ready veil to every treason, and teeming mischief's beneath thy shade.
Take this kiss upon the brow And, in parting from you now,Thus much let me avow--You are not wrong who deemThat my days have been a dreamYet if hope has flown awayIn a night, or in a day,In a vision, or in none,Is it therefore the less goneAll that we see or seemIs but a dream within a dream.
The shades of night were falling fast,As though an Alpine village passedA youth, who bore, 'mid snow and ice,A banner with the strange device,ExcelsiorHis brow was sad his eye beneath,Flashed like a falchion from its sheath,And like a silver clarion rungThe accents of that unknown tongue,Excelsior The worst thing about Europe is that you can't go out in the middle of the night and get a Slurpee. Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who dream only at night. Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.
