Write Down Your Goals
Published On: 03rd Apr 2014 02:49 am

It has been proven that those who physically write down their goals are more likely to accomplish them, even if they have forgotten they have even written it down in the first place. Ask anyone who is successful at what they do if they have ever written down any of their goals during their journey towards their goal. A famous study was conducted in 1953 with Yale students. The results were that the 3% of people who wrote down their goals and kept it were wealthier than the remainder of 97% of their class who did not write down their goals.

Even Ted Williams in my last post, he had written down his goal. He wrote down the gift that he had..what his contribution to the world was and then he asked for someone to help him. He did not necessarily ask for money, he simply asked for help. He stated he had a gift and I would like to use it to benefit myself. It was a goal and it was written down. So if a homeless man can write down his goals on a piece of cardboard and share his goals with others until someone who could help him came along, I don’t see this challenge being a problem.

So here’s what you do:

Dedicate one sheet of paper for that one specific goal. that is the title of your paper. then write out all that is required of you to achieve that goal. You can do it in a checklist form which is also a good idea. Or even write it out in the form of a short story. With all that is required of you, break it down even further to avoid allowing your goals to seem intimidating.

Describe what your goal is and in great detail

How are you going to benefit by achieving this goal?

What do you need to do to accomplish that step?

How long should it take you to reach this goal?

What should you be doing daily? weekly? monthly? yearly?

State what you are going to contribute to others to achieve this goals.
Include this goal sheet into your daily life. Create your life to make this goal a priority to work on and make your daily to-do list in a way that includes the tasks required of you. One thing to note, in order to effectively accomplish these goals, we must be self-disciplined and remain focused on your goal on a continuous basis. So keep this written down version in a place where you can review daily and remind yourself of the goal you have set out to accomplish.

The reason behind writing down your goals? This will give you a sense of clarity and defined purpose during your day. You will not feel like you are wandering around in life just waiting for happiness to discover you. You are going after something that you want and desire.
