Tried out for the Atlanta Braves during the players’ strike of 1995, and now has a small ownership stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2012, he also made a failed bid for the San Diego Padres baseball team. Raised outside of Binghamton, N.Y., by a single, dental-hygienist mother.
