Hal (Alec Baldwin) and Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) are a multi-millionaire couple in New York living the "good life" – mansions, yachts, and wealthy friends.
Then smooth-talking Hal is exposed as a crooked financier and goes to prison and leaves her. With nowhere else to go, Jasmine moves into her sister’s lower-middle-class apartment in San Francisco to try to pull herself back together again.
