Rene Marie Russo is an American actress, producer and former model. She is widely known for her roles in commercial blockbusters in the 90s. Russo was one of the top models of the 1970s and early 80s, appearing on magazine covers for Vogue, Mademoiselle and Cosmopolitan, as well as advertisements for perfumes and cosmetics. In 1980, she turned her attention to theatre and acting and started to take acting lessons from veteran actor Allan Rich in 1980. A short while later, she made her big screen debut in the comedy film Major League (1989) and later co-starred in One Good Cop (1989) with Michael Keaton. Widespread success and stardom came in the 1990s, when she landed the female lead in box office hits like Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), In The Line of Fire (1993), Outbreak (1995) and Tin Cup (1996). Russo reprised her role as Detective Lorna Cole in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) and delivered a hit with the movie The Thomas Crown Affair (1999). She also appeared in Showtime (2002) and starred and produced Two for the Money (2005), alongside Matthew McConaughey. Russo has proven her mettle as an actress, holding her own against legendary actors like Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Robert De Niro, Pierce Brosnan and Al Pacino. After she starred in the family comedy Yours, Mine and Ours (2005), she took a six year hiatus from films. Russo also appeared as Frigga, the mother of Thor in the superhero films Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013). She will soon be seen in Nightcrawler, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. She is also set to appear in upcoming comedy The Intern, which is scheduled for a 2015 release.
