Markets were weaker again today as the Dow Jones tanked 100 points, the S&P 500 lost 13 and the Nasdaq fell 44. The Russell 2000 shed 9 points while Canada’s main index closed down 25. The VIX fell around 3%, while the yield on the 10 year moved higher by 3 basis points to settle at 2.11%. Both WTI and Brent Crude were crushed again as West Texas fell below $56 a barrel, while the gold price lost just under 2 ½ percent. European markets suffered heavy losses as the FTSE crumbled 118 points and the DAX capitulated 260. Asian markets were weaker in overnight trade as the ASX 200 lost 33 points, the Hang Seng fell 221 and the Nikkei fell 272. In foreign exchange markets the US Dollar was weaker against the Japanese Yen but stronger against the British Pound, Euro, Canadian and Aussie Dollars.
